Kip WingerAfter dropping out of his Denver high school in tenth grade to pursue a career in music, Kip Winger landed a spot playing bass in Alice Cooper’s band for the Constrictor (1986) album and tour. At Cooper’s suggestion, Winger broke off and used his own last name to form a hugely successful pop-metal band that produced four albums, including Winger (1988) and In the Heart of the Young (1990).After disbanding Winger in the mid 90s, Kip began working on solo albums. When his wife was tragically killed in a 1996 car accident, the devastated guitarist still managed to release This Conversation Seems Like a Dream (1997), followed by Made by Hand (1998) and Songs from the Ocean Floor (2000). In 2002, Winger (the band) reunited to tour with Poison, and Kip followed in 2003 with a solo acoustic tour supporting Whitesnake. Winger the band released IV in 2006, and Winger the man is currently scoring films and writing solo material. View the artist's website: www.kipwinger.com |
