Bob WeirOne of guitarist and songwriter Bob Weir’s best-loved songs is "The Music Never Stopped." This idea still holds true in the 21st century. You may have heard of his first group, The Grateful Dead, which founded the "jam band" movement while releasing 13 studio albums and dozens of live recordings over its long, strange trip from 1965 to 1995. Weir played on every Grateful Dead record, and his unique rhythm style was pivotal in developing the band’s pioneering sound. Always searching for more musical outlets, Weir developed a solo career that began with albums like Ace (1972) and Heaven Help the Fool (1978) and continued through his first sideband, Bobby and the Midnites. After founding Dead member Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995, Weir settled into a partnership with distinguished bassist Rob Wasserman, which soon led to the RatDog project and the critically acclaimed Evening Moods (2000) record. Weir continues to record and tour. In 2004, he released a new album with another project, Kingfish, which he originally joined in 1973. Weir was instrumental in designing his signature model Alvarez acoustic/electric WY1BW guitar. View the artist's website: www.rat-dog.com |
