Aaron LewisIt’s been more than a decade since Aaron Lewis played his first gig with Staind in February 1995. The band’s self-released debut, Tormented (1996), allowed Staind to play the New England area over the next several years before a chance encounter with Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst allowed them to catch the attention of Flip Records. The label brought in producer Terry Tate (Soundgarden, Deftones, Pantera) before releasing Dysfunction (1999), which achieved platinum-plus status. An acoustic cut on the Family Values Tour 1999 CD, "Outside," became a #1 rock single, and a studio version appeared on Staind’s next album. Break the Cycle (2001) entered the Billboard Top 200 albums chart at #1 and has sold more than eight million albums to date. The songs "Fade," "For You" and "It’s Been Awhile" from Break the Cycle introduced the world to singer and guitarist Aaron Lewis’ hauntingly pained vocals. Staind’s 2003 follow-up record, 14 Shades of Grey, marked the band’s second #1 entry on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. The newest Staind record, Chapter V (2005), was named to include the band’s self-released debut in their catalog and is richly textured with Alvarez acoustic tones.
